Kids Kamp 2021

Dear Friend,

Each summer, with your support, StarVista’s Children’s Place Program is able to offer a week-long Kids Kamp, where children living in a family struggling with alcohol or drug addiction can set aside their stress and have fun, while having an opportunity to learn, grow, and heal.

Kids Kamp, hosted by our School-Based Services staff and volunteers, gives kids in San Mateo County a chance to adopt the critical self-care skills they learn in the program in a safe and supportive environment. During Kids Kamp, the children participate in support groups that focus on The Children’s Place curriculum topics: Feelings, Communication, Defenses, Problem-Solving, Decision Making, Staying Safe, and One’s Uniqueness.

StarVista’s Children’s Place Program offers prevention services for children of parents and caregivers who are addicted to drugs or alcohol. To help break the cycle of addiction, the program uses education and counseling to teach children about addiction, teach them healthy coping and safety skills, build their self-esteem, and help them realize that they are not alone.

This year, we are hosting our Kids Kamp virtually for the health and safety of Kampers due to COVID-19. While our camp will not be in-person, I am grateful to share that we are extending the program beyond our Children’s Place school-site locations in Redwood City, to all youth, ages 7-12, in San Mateo County! Our team is excited to be able to provide the same quality care and services to more youth who are in need of prevention services.

Kampers can look forward to a virtual, engaging experience during the first week in August, and will receive a “Kamper Kit” care package with required supplies and additional resources. Our counselors will provide a variety of online activities, games, crafts, and psychoeducation groups throughout the week. To ensure the best virtual experience, our Kamp Counselors will be offering tech support to any child or family needing assistance. In addition, we are already making arrangements for an in-person camp for summer 2022.

We are grateful for your past support of Kids Kamp. As we are welcoming more kids than ever before, we ask that you once again help us provide this amazing opportunity for deserving children in the county. It takes $300 to sponsor a Kamper and give them an experience that will impact their lives forever. This summer, please help us provide a life-changing experience for these children.

Sincerely,
